What happens to your recordings
Everything paperite produces stays on the Mac that produced it. Audio, transcripts, summaries and notes are files in your own storage. There is no account to create, no sync to switch off, and no server operated by paperite that your data could reach.
Where are my recordings stored?
In paperite's library on your disk, alongside the notes they belong to. Your notes are markdown files. If you stopped using paperite tomorrow, the notes would still open in any text editor.
Does paperite send anything to a server?
No. There is no telemetry pipeline for your content, no cloud transcription step and no third-party AI API. The app does not need an internet connection to record, transcribe, separate speakers or summarise.
How do the AI features work without the cloud?
paperite uses Apple Foundation Models, the language models built into macOS, which run on the device. Summaries, action item extraction and asking questions about a recording all happen locally. Nothing is sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or anyone else.
What does the App Store privacy label say?
Data Not Collected.
Is this enough for a client under NDA?
That is a judgement for you and your client, and paperite cannot make it. What it can tell you is the technical position: the audio does not leave the machine, so there is no processor to name, no transfer to document and no third-party subprocessor in the chain. Whether that satisfies a particular agreement is a question for whoever wrote it.
